  • The morning market in Catania is one of the best in all of Sicily.
  • Here in the market the butchers are preparing meat.
  • Churches in Cantania are many and large.
  • Bikes and cellphones... two staples of life in the city.
  • The Duomo is heavily decorated, inside and out. Here the status along the railing and on pedals in front of the building help to prepare the viewer for what is inside.
  • The Benedictine Monastry is one of the largest in Europe. It looks more like a palace. It is now part of the Faculty of Literature and Philosphy of the University of Catania.
  • Grand staircases in the Monastry reflect the palace like stature of the of overall building.

  • The streets all have an elegant feel to them. Many of the streets in the historic centre do not have car traffic.
