Vedène
A small historical centre remains around the 12th-century Château de Vedène, known locally as the Château des Seigneurs. The town was an important religious centre, particularly during the Avignon Papacy when it was a papal possession.
Part of the tower of the old chateau remains, now a hotel.
Vedène 17th Century clock tower.
The street leading to the chateau has super house gardens.
Rich textures in the old buildings.
Interesting old doors in the historical centre.
Colour junkies will love the colour combinations on the old buildings.
I love the angles of the building lines around the church.
Wrought-iron bell towers were created in Provence since the 16th century and very poppular in Provence. The open structure allows the strong Le Mistral to blow through.
The Circle of Progress was a meeting place for conversation. Authorities were worried about what was being discussed and often set closing times. There were about 20 of these circles in Vedène between 1840 and 1900. The Cercle du Progrès sign is the only one that remains.,
