Martina Franca

Known Baroque and Rococo architecture and winding alleys.

Martina Franca

The town was established in the 14th Century by Philip of Anjoy, Prince of Toranto. Its name, Franca, means tax-free status which helped top attract settlers and support growth for the community. During the 17th and 18th centuries the town flurished with the constructiion of palaces and ornate churches. These include the Palazzo Ducale in Piazza Roma and the Basilica di San Martino and clock tower, in Piazza del Plebiscito.

Each visit we had to this town has been very enjoyable.
